DAY 1
Passengers can be collected from the V&A Waterfront and transferred to the Spier Monument Station in Cape Town to board the train. Departure will be at 10h00 and the train will travel through the Cape Town suburbs and enter the Winelands around the historic town of Paarl
Continuing the journey, the train will travel through open countryside of farms and wheat fields leading to the scenic Tulbagh Kloof. Orchards and vineyards grace the next part of the magnificent route through the mountains to Worcester. The train then proceeds through the scenic Hex River Valley and into the semi desert of the Karoo for an evening at Aquila Resort. In the evening enjoy an al fresco South African farm dinner.
Continuing the journey, the train will travel through open countryside of farms and wheat fields leading to the scenic Tulbagh Kloof. Orchards and vineyards grace the final section of this magnificent route through the mountains to Worcester and the Protea Cumberland Hotel.
DAY 2
Departing the Karoo, passengers board the Spier Vintage Train for a leisurely run and light lunch en route to the Spier Wine Estate. Guests can relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery traveling through scenic valleys to the renowned Stellenbosch wine district.
On arrival at Spier guests check into their rooms at 'The Village at Spier', a charming hotel in a village setting. Relax or explore the beautiful grounds of the estate.
Dinner, at the guest's choice, will be a traditional Cape Malay meal at the famous Jonkershuis restaurant, or enjoy the sophisticated African dining experience at Moyo.
DAY3
After a leisurely breakfast passengers can visit the Cheetah outreach project, or visit the 'Raptor' rehabilitation centre. Here one can see the 'Art of Falconry' as young eagles and hawks are taught to fly and hunt. A unique experience.
The Wine Centre at Spier offers a large selection of different estate wines, and arrangements can be made to have wine sent to your home. Guests may also visit Stellenbosch, play golf, or go horse riding. A lunch voucher is provided enabling guests to choose one of the many food outlets on the estate, a final wine tasting precedes departure on the train for the return journey to Cape Town.
