ALVIN KUSHNER - Joint Managing Member, Marketing

Alvin Kushner |
Before the emergence of the S A tourism industry as we know it today, Alvin was already well established in business, having been a Director of several Companies in the Motor Industry where he still retains a vested interest.
Alvin, with his wife, Merril established Cape Rainbow Tours... and have immersed themselves totally in the management of inbound tourism as well as scheduled tourism transport.
He, like Merril, is a qualified tour guide and has a hands-on approach. He insists on a daily briefing of all his guides personally, before they set out on tours.
Alvin has devoted much of his time with Cape Rainbow to working closely as a Cape Town tour operator with various tourism bodies and transport authorities. He is committed to maintaining high standards and ethics in the tourism transport industry and through his involvement with SATSA and TOACT has done extensive work in this field including working with Government at the highest level. He has also committed himself to mentoring and assisting previously disadvantaged individuals who wish to enter this industry.

Cinga was one of South Africa's early pioneers in the field of Township Tourism. He is the son of the local respected church minister and still resides in the township of Langa, a stone's throw from the dusty streets where he played as a child.
His career took off after leaving the University of Fort Hare where he pursued a Human Sciences Studies degree. Cinga has been involved in human resource development and during his career in this field, trained staff at the Ford Motor Company as well as Cadburys. He also lectured for a number of years at the National Productivity Institute.
In 1990 he became captivated by the possibilities that were opening up in our newly emerging tourism industry. He envisaged great opportunities for many of the people of the townships as they could become a vital component of the South African tourism explosion.
He is devoted to ensuring that tourists who visit the townships have an enlightening, positive experience and leave with a deeper understanding of how township life was and will always be an integral part of the whole South African culture.
